Flag pole bracket installation is a very easy job.
Most brackets will come with a supply of screws in order to fasten your new bracket firmly to the surface where you want to display your flag. Please be cautious if installing your flag somewhere you may pierce electrical wires when either drilling or screwing in the screws.
Your instructions will share with you what type of surface is best to mount your new flag pole. Please note that if you install your flag pole bracket to a surface that is not stable enough for the screws to withstand the weight as well as the pulling and ripping that will occur if your flag is flown outside on a windy day then your bracket will not stay securely fastened.
Don’t Miss This Step
First you will want to assess the length of your flag as to make sure it will not touch the ground once the pole is mounted. If using a telescoping flag pole be sure it is extended to the maximum length as well as any other lengths you may use so that when your flag is being displayed it will not touch the ground.
Place your bracket on the surface in the location that you want to fly your flag and put pencil marks in the holes as if you were using the pencil to screw the screws into place. This will allow you to use a drill to start the hole where you will need to fasten the screws. Be sure the drill bill is smaller than the screws so that when you screw the threads of the screw into the hole the threads will securely catch the surface and make the bracket attach firmly.
Drilling Pilot Holes
Pre-drill the holes where you have marked with your pencil. Place your bracket over the location where you have drilled as you align the screw holes on the bracket with the pre-drilled holes.
Screw the screws into the bracket being sure the bracket is very securely attached to the surface. Now simply place your flag pole into the new bracket and step back to admire your new flag pole bracket.
Note: Depending upon the surface that you are attaching your bracket you may not need to use a drill. In addition, if mounting to a brick wall you will need to use a masonry drill bit to create your pilot holes. The masonry drill bit can be acquired at any hardware department. Be sure to secure the flag into the brick and not the mortar in order to have a solid and firm mount.
